St. John’s Amateur Baseball Association (SJABA) is home to the top baseball talent in Newfoundland and Labrador. Entering its 80th season, the league provides a competitive and structured environment for approximately 250 active players. SJABA features seven organizations: Fieldians, Generals, Gonzaga, Holy Cross, Knights, Shamrocks, and Storm; each fielding teams in both the Junior and Senior divisions. Many of these organizations carry a storied and rich history, while others represent the continued growth and evolution of the game in the region. Historic St. Pat’s Ballpark in St. John’s serves as the league’s primary home field, with Team Gushue Field in Mount Pearl acting as a secondary venue. The season begins with a pre-draft workout, giving players the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of all teams. This is followed by the league’s annual entry draft; a live-streamed, in-person event that brings together teams and players as selections are made, setting the tone for the season ahead.
A competitive regular season follows, alongside marquee events such as the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, showcasing the league’s top talent.
The season concludes with an exciting playoff format featuring best-of-five semi-final and championship series in each division, where teams compete for league titles.
Off the field, SJABA celebrates its history and achievements through its own Hall of Fame and annual awards banquet, recognizing excellence and contributions to the game.
Whether you’re looking to compete, connect, or simply enjoy high-level local baseball, SJABA offers an experience like no other!
